Oatmeal Extraordinaire
During the cold winter months I have always enjoyed oatmeal for breakfast. It is a warm, healthy, and filling compliment to my morning cup of coffee. I usually open an envelope of low sugar, maple and brown sugar oatmeal and microwave it for a quick no fuss, no clean up, breakfast but here is a great way to dress up your bowl of oatmeal to make it extraordinary. Oatmeal Extraordinaire
Ingredients:
• ½ cup of oatmeal per bowl
• 1 cup of boiling water per bowl
• ½ teaspoon of splenda
Place ½ cup of oatmeal into breakfast bowl. Add up to ½ to 1 cup of hot water and stir until smooth. Cover with inverted saucer and allow to steam and thicken. If consistency too thick add more water.
Toppings:
• ¼ cup dried cranberries
• ¼ cup dried golden raisins
• ¼ cup brown sugar
• ¼ cup chopped walnuts
Place all the toppings in small bowls and place on table. Remove the inverted saucer from the oatmeal and stir once more. Place bowl of oatmeal on saucer and serve with spoon. Sprinkle the toppings over the warm oatmeal.
This presentation will seem like you have ordered room service in a four star hotel and the best part is it is only 120 calories.
